"Be kind to yourself and to your children too. Take time out to improve your life and your political system. Ask questions, Demand answers. Demand a good Republican model. If people hand you a written Republican model mack sour it is a  good one. Don't let politicians tell us what Republican model to expect. We have the right to decide what republic we will have" -Eric Hannaford

Australian Republican Debate

Do you think we should leave it to our politicians to tell us what republican model we should accept? On the 6 of November 1999 we Australians were asked to vote, Do you want Australia to become a Republic? This was offered to us by our previous Liberal party and their leader Prime Minister John Howerd. If we look at all the Republican models we can find we should be able to take the good out of them and discard the rest.
When we were offered a referendum by the Liberal party, where was the Labour party's Republican model?
There was no republican model coming from our Labour Party. I say they were asleep, they could have offered us a republican Model.
We have our politicians telling us we should leave it to them to come up with our next Republican model with the Labour party not offering us a republican model the last time why would we think they could come up with a good republican model.

Why Me?

Why me because I want us Australians to hand our children the best possible republican model.
Unfortunately a lot of people don’t care what kind of republican model they hand to their children.
